ACTIVITIES


There are a range of activities available in Broome. There are off site Excursions and Incursions (external providers that come to the camp school), and programs offered by the camp school.

Worksheets for some activities are available from the camp school. Including the Bird Observatory, Wilderness Park, Bureau of Meteorology, Gantheaume Point, Minyirr Park, Pearling, Museum, The Mangroves, Broome Court House, Deep Water Port, Cable Beach & a Beachcombers Education Kit.  Please contact the office for more information.

Programs offered by the Camp School
There are many programs offered by the camp school. All programs offered meet Department of Education and Training Policy requirements and all staff working at the camp school are DET employees and have Police and Working with Children clearances. The Camp School Director will be happy to run different programs depending on your objectives and school needs.


Swimming Pool
A 14m pool is available during the day. It must be closely supervised by a qualified lifeguard. All schools must comply with the Department of Education and Training water excursion policy. Qualified lifeguards are available for hire.

Sports Equipment
A variety of equipment including Aussie sports equipment is available for structured activities. There is also available an outdoor basketball court under lights (restricted use of lights due to high running cost) and a beach volleyball court. *Note: Suggest schools bring their own sports equipment for free time use.



Due to the high cost of replacement, the Camp School can no longer supply these.



Beach Activities
The following activities are available boogie boarding, surf board riding, mini surf carnivals, beach education and surf awareness and fishing hand lines . Water activities must be closely supervised by a qualified lifeguard. All schools must comply with the Department of Education and Training water excursion policy. Costs may apply to some activities.

Orienteering
Map and compass games round camp school grounds. For smaller children a mapping game in the form of a peg hunt is available.


Outdoor Ed Activities
The following activities are instructed by the director; climbing wall (yr 5 up), prusiking - rope climbing (yr 4 up), low ropes course (all yrs), bike education and bike tours (yr 5 up).

Team Building Activities
Through physical challenges students work together to lean to value teamwork, practice leadership skills, improve listening skills and appreciate individual differences. Great for building cooperation amongst your class. All age groups catered for.

Frisbee Golf
Nine holes using frisbees within the camp school grounds. An easy game that can be supervised by teachers. Equipment provided

Raft Building
A fun activity using basic materials, simple knots and lashings plus initiative and teamwork. Students design and build the rafts and test them followed by races in the camp school pool. Costs apply.
